Date:  Tuesday 10th February 2025

Time: 9:30am - 4pm

Location: Gibson Room, QUT Gardens Point Campus (see map below)

A dynamic full‑day PhD Symposium invites emerging housing researchers to build their professional identity, expand their networks, and position their work for real‑world impact. The program opens with a welcome session before moving into Panel 1: Beyond the PhD, where experts unpack how to identify their audience, tailor research outputs, and navigate diverse career pathways across academia, government, industry, and advocacy. After morning tea, participants join a practical LinkedIn workshop with Karen Cavu, exploring how to craft a strong research profile and use the platform strategically. Following lunch, Panel 2: Credibility in Motionexamines how candidates can cultivate visibility, interdisciplinary collaborations, and ethical authorship practices while still completing their PhD. The afternoon continues with a hands‑on workshop led by Karyn Gonano on defining and communicating your researcher identity across bios, grants, and professional platforms. The day concludes with an open discussion before the optional Welcome Ceremony at Old Government House. to QUT
